Alfredo Morelos’s recent exploits will no doubt make him a wanted man in the summer, the fact that he has been open about a potential move to the Premier League will also fan the flames of speculation.

Speaking to Football Insider, former England man and respected top flight striker, Kevin Campbell, feels that he may have options but not where many Rangers fans would expect:

“I think there will be quite a few clubs looking at him.

“His disciplinary record leaves a lot to be desired but he knows where the goal is and he’s played for a big club up there.

“If he wants to go to the Premier League then I’m sure teams who are coming up from the Championship will be particularly interested in him.

“They could do with a striker who knows how to score goals. So I think his options will be open big-time.”

At the risk of sounding snobby, there is no way Morelos should be leaving Rangers to go to a club that has just been promoted from the Championship. The top six might be out of the question given their resources but there is no reason why he couldn’t do a job for a well established Premier League side like West Ham United, Aston Villa or Everton.

In what year did Allan McGregor make his Rangers debut?

I still wouldn’t rule out him staying for another season, he loves big mid-week games – and I don’t mean a cold Tuesday night in Norwich – the lure of the Champions League could yet be enough to tempt him to add to his already impressive European record, he’s better than a relegation battler, and he has proven this time after time in Light Blue.
