Yesterday evening Rangers confirmed that Harry Forrester had departed the club permanently after both parties agreed to a mutual contract termination.

Having joined the club back in January 2016 as a free agent from Doncaster Rovers, the former Aston Villa trainee went on to make 20 starting appearances for us, with a further 24 appearances off the bench and in that time he contributed eight goals.

He was part of the squad that won the 2015/16 Championship title and lifted the Petrofac Cup so he does leave with some fond memories to take with him.

He spent last season out on loan with AFC Wimbledon and it always seemed it was only a matter of time before he would move on permanently.

Reacting to the announcement some fans seemed to be more than happy to wish him well following his efforts in his time with us, but it’s also fair to say he won’t be that much of a loss now we are at a different level and new manager Steven Gerrard looks to the future. Parting ways is in the best interests of all concerned, and I doubt he’ll have much trouble finding another club as he begins a new chapter in his career.

Others do disagree and one memory, in particular, stands out for quite a few.

Rangers fans will remember and know so I don’t need to repeat the generic portion of those types of tweets further.
