Barry Ferguson has expressed his fear on the emerging situation at Ibrox following the latest disappointment on Saturday.

As much as the draw was damaging in terms of title aspirations, it was the latest dire performance that has had such a profound effect on opinions and outlook in terms of what lies ahead for Gio van Bronckhorst’s Rangers.

The treble winning captain previously spoke following the Liverpool game and also reflected after the weekend with the pressure building on the Dutchman, telling the Go Radio Football Show:

“It was a tough watch again, I’m not going to kid anyone on. Livingston go ahead after four minutes and Rangers just didn’t get going.”

“During the game, at no stage did I feel that Rangers were going to score.”

“They got out of jail with Lundstram scoring in (stoppage) time but it’s worrying times, no doubt about it.”

Fergie experienced adversity during his time at Ibrox in different ways. There was his initial move south to Blackburn and subsequent return. He had a very public spat with Paul Le Guen as well as the Scotland situation alongside Allan McGregor which would have an impact on his time at Rangers under Walter Smith.

Most of all, he knows what it takes to form and maintain a successful Rangers dressing room, with standards to be set out on the pitch – something that is clearly amiss at present.

He added, “The fans, you can hear them, they’re not happy during and after the game, and rightly so.”

Any further significant setbacks in this coming week against Napoli or Aberdeen will have consequences, especially from the supporters. That is something that won’t come as a shock to Ferguson, Gio or anyone.
