The signing of Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq from Roma on a season-long long spell certainly got tongues wagging in the Rangers fanbase.
The 21-year-old certainly showed he had an eye for a goal during his loan spell out with NAC Breda in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign where he found the net five times in 12 appearances. Given his size and build Gers fans were hopeful he would suit the Scottish game down to the ground and his long-awaited non-competitive debut came in the weekend’s friendly against Wigan Athletic.
We hammered our Championship opponents 3-0 on the day at Ibrox with Alfredo Morelos and Nikola Katic getting on the scoresheet. Sadiq didn’t find the net but he harried and hassled Alex Bruce as he put the ball into his own net to make it three goals with ten minutes after he replaced Morelos as a 55th-minute substitute.
The youngster was very impressive across his 35 minute run out and it left fans begging for more – especially as he won’t be 100% fit yet.
Umar Sadiq will terrify defenders this season ,brace yourself the big man is the real deal ???????? ???????? #RangersFC #LetsGo

Was worried Sadiq would be a Herrera type. Already looks far more encouraging

Early doors but 5 clean sheets out of 5 games, Goldson an absolute steal, Middleton looks promising.
Sadiq looks a handful.— aaron. (@onlywinaway1872) July 29, 2018
Sadiq looks like he could be capable of some brilliance but looks awkward as hell ????. Loved the way he gets brought down in his own half got up and sprinted in to the box to get on the end of a header.

Like the look of Sadiq when he came on! Looks like one of those big awkward strikers defenders don’t like to play against
