Rangers left-back takes his chance to shine once again as Rangers took a point from Spanish side Villarreal in Thursday’s Europa League Group stage opener.
Having fallen behind twice in the match out at the Estadio de la Ceramica, goals from Scotty Arfield and Kyle Lafferty won us a hard-fought point on the day and plenty of credit in the world of football given their control and dominance for large periods of the game.
It was again a defensive, back to the wall showing, but most knew it would be like that and it was down to how we took our chances when they came along.
Putting in a solid performance, the summer signing helped himself to a brace for Lafferty’s second equaliser on the day and the £2million signing from FK Osijek is proving to be an absolute steal.
What a signing Barisic has been, his runs and his final ball are exceptional – real quality player. The Papac of this team.

To go in 1-0, weirdly, gave Rangers a wee lift. We have more capable players now, Barisic for example, what a ball to Lafferty. Every point is a bonus for me, can’t fault effort.

Barisic ????????????????????????????????????????

Middletons ball to Barisic was perfection, Barisics cross to Lafferty was Perfection and Lafferty’s finish was perfection… perfection.

The 25-year-old is clearly our number one at fullback now and whilst some fans are still nostalgic for Lee Wallace, and yes we need competition, but his performances are just getting stronger for us as the week’s tick by.
