Thursday’s evenings Europa League clash against Villarreal turned out to be a bit of a humdinger.

Opening the Group stages of the campaign up following a successful qualification campaign, Rangers found themselves behind twice in the match but goals from Scotty Arfield and Kyle Lafferty drew us back level on each occasion, and manager Steven Gerrard was a proud and delighted man as we took a point from the encounter to really boost our 2018/19 season.

When the initial graphic was drawn up statistics website Whoscored had given Lafferty a match rating of 7.28.

Since then they’ve dropped him down to 7.11 for his efforts on the day, so left-back Borna Barisic takes their Man of the Match from our performance with an equally revised 7.15 following his showing and his assist in the game.

On-loan Nottingham Forest centre-half Joe Worrall deserves special mention as well given the concerns that were raised ahead of kick-off when it was announced he would make his debut in the game. They gave him 7.08 for his club bow and with 57 touches, he had a pass accuracy of 97.6%, one tackle, five interceptions and six clearances – along with a blocked shot.

Not a bad debut by any standard.
