We Were A Yard Off It – McCulloch

Lee McCulloch has talked of his delight at grabbing the winner from the penalty spot against East Fife in injury time, but admitted the performance left a fair bit to be desired, and we were a yard off the pace across the pitch really.

Speaking to the Official Site after the win, the focus for McCulloch obviously was on the three points and taking another step closer to the title, but nobody was going to be daft enough to ignore the showing and the somewhat lucky nature of the win, especially as performances have been a talking point this side of the season especially.

‘It felt great to see the penalty hit the back of the net. It takes us three points closer to the championship so I’m delighted. Some bits of our performance were not so good, I think we were half a yard off it.’

McCulloch does proffer that maybe the effects of having had three games in a week were on show a touch, but there’s no doubting the lads looked tired and certainly didn’t have the edge we’d expect them to have, and nor they would expect to have either.

For McCulloch digging out the win though again in such circumstances points to the strength of character in the team, because he does have to credit East Fife for the performance they put on and the effort they put into the game as they certainly weren’t undeserving of a point if we are being fair.
