Manager Mark Warburton was again pleased with our performance against Queen of the South, but he did admit he felt the red card for them was harsh.

A five one win with goals from Halliday, Holt, McKay and then a penalty brace from Waghorn had a smile on the manager’s face again, but speaking to the Official Site he knows we gained an advantage from the red card, but equally he thought our overall performance had more than warranted such a comprehensive score line.

‘I didn`t think it was a fair decision and I have to be honest and I`m not being controversial but it was five yards away from me and there is 11 competitive players on each team out there and there is a lot to play for. It was no more than a yellow card for me, he put his face to him but I didn`t see any malice or intent and if I was their manager I would be frustrated. I think we were one up and in good shape at that point and we were moving the ball and we know other teams will find it hard in the last half an hour so I was comfortable at that stage. It definitely made it easier for us and we obviously took advantage of the situation and punished them.’

Leading one nil at the card turning point, and hitting four goals afterwards clearly it aided us but Warburton said playing an opposition with ten men isn’t always the advantage you think it would be so it takes a professional and focus performance to make the man advantage count and for him that was exactly what we did to ensure another three points.

‘It`s just about getting the result and the three points are the most important thing but it was a difficult place to come, against a difficult team and that is a really resounding victory. There is no doubt about that and our opponents were in fine form, they had played three and won three and they deserve to be where they are in the league so we knew the threat that they posed but it was a good performance this afternoon.’

With Lee Wallace going off with injury, and forcing a rejig to the defence, Warburton also praised the depth we have at the club indicating that he wouldn’t be bringing anybody in ahead of the transfer deadline closing on Tuesday evening.

‘I was disappointed not to get a clean sheet, we have to look at the details and that was that we gave away a sloppy goal and it`s important to learn from that. They maybe took one or two liberties in the last 15 minutes but overall all credit to the players to come to this type of venue, with that type of challenge and play in that manner was really pleasing. The attacking starts from the back and the defending starts from the front and that is how we work it. Taking Lee off was more precautionary and we need to have a look at him now. It happened really early into the game after two minutes and he is an important player and the club captain so we need to look after him. The squad is in good shape and we did our work early, which is always good and we had one or two going out as well and if one becomes available and we are in the position to move then we can but right now I don`t think we need anymore.’
