Manager Mark Warburton has credited a wonderful team effort following our five nil victory over Raith Rovers at the weekend.

With a Waghorn brace from the penalty spots, added to earlier goals from Wallace, Tavernier and McKay, a pleased Warburton told the Official Site at the full time whistle that again there were lots of positives for him to continue to take from our form at the moment.

‘It was a tough challenge today, but right from the very first whistle, we dominated possession, moved the ball well and were patient with it too. We created chances too and although some things didn`t come off, we maintained composure, so it was a really pleasing performance with good rewards. We have to look after the football and work hard to get it back when we lose it – and that was really pleasing for us. We worked hard as a pack to get it back and then played again. So that was great, as was our defensive awareness – we were attacking but we had to make sure our defensive shape was right. All over the park, there were some great performances, so it was a really pleasing afternoon`s work.’

With on loan Nathan Oduwa taking the Man of the Match vote with a number of players up for a shout of it given their individual performances, Warburton went on to add about the youngster.

‘For Nathan, his challenge will be to break into the Spurs first team. He knows what he has to do in terms of his assists and his geography on the pitch, scoring goals and playing his part. But today, he was excellent and thoroughly deserved his ‘Man of the Match` award.’

In a follow up interview, the gaffer talked more about the manner of the first three goals in particular, and his delight at seeing us become more clinical from set pieces.

‘We work hard, and David Weir does a lot of work on the set pieces. It`s a big part of the game, so we take care and rehearse our free-kicks, so we were really pleased with that. I was pleased too with our short corners. We played them quick and maintained our tempo.’

Tavernier also came in for praise with him finding the net on the day.

‘He gets forward well, and it was all about the timing of the run and getting in the right position with the right pitch geography. But Tav is getting better and better, and he deserved his goal and could have had a couple more in all honesty.’

With Livingston up next, Warburton is simply looking for more of the same from the side.

‘It`s just a good level of performance, and we have to maintain that level of consistency. That has to be our aim – it`s one game at a time and everything now is geared up for Livingston next week. We have to train well and prepare well, and everything we do over the next seven days will be geared towards another good performance.’
