Rangers captain Lee Wallace has said it has been an ‘honour and privilege’ to skipper the club to our successes this season.

With Saturday’s game against Alloa Athletic seeing Rangers lift the Championship trophy this year with promotion back to the Premiership secured, we also have the Petrofac Training Cup for the first time, and the success isn’t over with Hibernian to come in the Scottish Cup either.

For Wallace though, as he spoke to the Official Site during the on pitch celebrations, it was about the success so far that was important to him.

‘It feels amazing to finally get our hands on the trophy. It was a trophy that we set our sights on as soon as the manager came in and it was part of our goals and we`ve managed to do that. We knew that we`d done it when we defeated Dumbarton and we`ve had a run up to lifting the trophy. It`s an outstanding moment and a real honour and a privilege to lift any kind of silverware in front of an amazing support and a support that deserves everything that we can try and win for them.’

With plenty of highs and far more positive performances than negative moments this year on the pitch, Wallace said his team mates had more than deserved the title for the brand of football we’ve played, and he wasn’t going to let the draw against Alloa bring him down.

‘It`s a magnificent day and I`m delighted to be part of this group of boys as they`ve been first class all season. It would have been easy to let the flatness of today`s game and the disappointment and the hurt at the result to affect the celebrations, but what we need to recognise is how we have won the league championship. We`ve got to remember and look at it from the very first moment on that Friday night against St Mirren up until this moment and we can`t let today`s disappointments hinder any form of celebrations. We`ve got to recognise how good we have been and how dominant we have been. We have been the best team in this league by a country mile. We have to savour these moments, but it`s up to us to get back to winning ways again.’
