Lee Wallace has said he can’t wait for next season to kick off knowing that Rangers will be competing in the Championship again, and of course for him he’ll be up against his old side Hearts.

Speaking to the Official Site with Hibs now also confirmed for the league next season, Wallace believes that it’s definitely going to be the toughest test we have faced so far since beginning the rebuild of the club.

‘The Championship will be another step up in quality and we know that. It will be tough but we’ll be ready for it and once we get a wee break this summer all the boys will be looking forward to coming back and getting prepared for the first game of the new campaign.’

Wallace adds that the pre season will be key for us, but it’s just a case of ‘wait and see’ when it comes to whether and with who, manager Ally McCoist strengthens with over the summer.

‘But regardless there is a massive incentive for us to do well next season and if we can finish at the top of the pile we will be back where we belong in the top league again.’

He does however admit that this will certainly amp up the pressure next season and in some ways it will hang over us, but it’s down to the players to deliver on that and step up to the challenge ahead and come out on top, because ultimately, it’s what everyone wants.
