Aberdeen’s fourth straight win – they also have a game in hand – came on Friday when Dundee were beaten 3-0 at Pittodrie. This Dons win took them up to 2nd above Rangers.

The reaction from Rangers was swift though with a 2-0 win at Motherwell – who they also beat in the Scottish Cup a week before – taking them back up to 2nd but still a massive amount behind champions elect Celtic.

Inverness’ return to league action saw them fail to make the most of home advantage with the winless run extended to 10 games and leaving them bottom of the table. Partick – as the away side – will be happier with the 0-0 draw.

Kilmarnock and Ross County are battling for security in midtable with Killie edging this meeting at Rugby Park by the odd goal in five when running out 3-2 winners.

Hamilton’s fifth defeat in six – they haven’t won any in the last 10 – was suffered when St Johnstone retained 5th place with a 3-0 victory.

Celtic’s relentless march to another title continued when the champions recorded a 27th successive win to beat the 1967 Lisbon Lions’ record to restore a 22 points lead over Old Firm rivals Rangers.
