Rangers secured a win over Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Seven days on from the Scottish Cup win over Motherwell – which was played at Ibrox – Rangers recorded a fourth victory over Well. This 2-0 win allowed us to return to 2nd place ahead of Aberdeen.

Minutes into the game Rangers were reduced to 10 men when Michael O’Halloran was sent off for a high challenge on Carl McHugh. Having failed to take a chance to put Motherwell ahead Scott McDonald then saw red for his a challenge on Kenny Miller before the half hour mark to make it 10 verses 10.

The breakthrough came on 72 minutes when Miller – his brace won the cup-tie the week before – scored. Three minutes from time Bournemouth Emerson Hyndman scored his first for Rangers to seal the points.

When commenting on the win post-match Mark Warburton was quoted by the BBC as saying.

‘I thought for four or five minutes after the sending-off we lost our composure and gave the ball away cheaply. But we quickly regained it. We had good passages of play. The midfield three were finding blue shirts and once it evened up I thought we dominated.’

Adding.

‘We spoke at half-time about being braver, breaking lines, testing the keeper. Second half we were very dominant, I don’t think Wes Foderingham had a save to make while we got the rewards. I thought it was a good victory. I asked Michael just now and there’s no intent, I am sure of that. But, if you catch him, you catch him.’

The reaction from Rangers was swift though with a 2-0 win at Motherwell – who they also beat in the Scottish Cup a week before – taking them back up to 2nd but still a massive amount behind champions elect Celtic.
