Rangers’ Petrofac Training Cup season continued with a win at Ibrox against St Mirren on Saturday to book a place in the final!

A four-nil win, thanks to goals from Holt, Miller, Waghorn and an own goal from Kelly, saw the Gers set up a showdown with Peterhead.

Rangers threatened from the off with Waghorn and McKay denied by fine saves from Langfield in the St Mirren goal to keep the scores level before Holt (34) finally made the breakthrough as he collected a Halliday through ball to score before half time.

St Mirren started the second half well as they looked to get back into the game.

Which would have happened but for the crossbar denying Carswell at the midway point of the second half as fears grew Rangers could be pegged back!

Shiels put in Waghorn who then set up Miller (77) who was able to double the lead when left with a simple tap in from six-yards out with the third coming with Waghorn (84) punishing St Mirren as they pushed on looking to get back into the game.

Any doubts, not that there were any, were put aside completely when Shiels’ effort was deflected past Langfield by Kelly (90) for an own goal to wrap up a four-nil win to give Warburton the chance of making the Petrofac Training Cup final his first bit of silverware.
