Rangers literally couldn’t have left it any later, scoring deep in injury-time at Ibrox to win 1-0, to secure the points against Dundee last Saturday. We’ll, as we look to move on from that victory, has a chance to move up to second on Saturday, with Celtic and Aberdeen meeting in the Scottish League Cup final and not in action, when the Gers head to Partick Thistle.

That 55th Scottish Premiership title, as things stand at the moment in all honesty, will have to wait until next season, at least, it would seem as Celtic are already in a strong position to retain the league. Being ‘second best’ isn’t what Rangers way but second place will be ours should we see of Thistle, albeit with Aberdeen then having a game in hand.

As Patrick have lost the last two, they’re also second-bottom, compared to the one Rangers have suffered, against Aberdeen, since the 5-1 thrashing at Celtic in September an away win would be expected. However, expectation and actually delivering aren’t the same thing with this a three points we’ll, in theory, have to work very hard for.
