Two Out On Loan?

Ally McCoist has revealed that Scott Gallagher and Andy Mitchell could both be moving away from the club shortly for loan spells.

It’s long been known that the manager wanted to get Scott Gallagher out on loan even though he’s impressed during his six game run in the team, and Airdrieonians have also been suitably impressed and have expressed an interest in taking the 24 year old on loan.

Of course, if Gallagher goes out, it frees up the budget for Ally to bring in Steven Simonsen who continues to train at the club.

Mitchell however has also attracted interest from Arbroath and Annan and McCoist seems willing to let him go out for some games as his opportunities at first team level will be limited due to competition.

Speaking to the Official Site the manager explained.

‘I’ve spoken to Jimmy Boyle at Airdrie and I know Scott spoke to him on Friday as well about going there. Hopefully we’re going to get something over the line there in the next couple of days, where Scott can still train here and continue to work with Jim Stewart and Jim Henry. At the same time, he’ll train with Airdrie when they meet and obviously play with them as well, that way, we feel we’d be getting the best of both worlds.’

As for Andy Mitchell, he added.

‘Andy has an opportunity to go out on loan as well and I know there are one or two clubs who are interested. I would encourage it because we need all our players to be playing, especially our younger ones.’

Always makes sense to get people out on loan who aren’t going to be playing regularly as there is only so much you can learn on the training pitch as there isn’t that competitive edge to it.
