In a few hours time, manager Steven Gerrard will send his Rangers side back out on the Ibrox pitch as we host Ayr United in the quarter-final of the Scottish League Cup.

With a semi-final berth up for grabs as we look to build on our Premiership and Europa League form by putting ourselves one step closer to silverware in 2018/19, few will be expecting the gaffer to take any risks in the match – but it’s fair to say there will be some changes.

Taking to social media as the game neared, these Gers fans at least believe that Academy product Glenn Middleton should be rewarded for his recent showings and be given the whole game to impress instead of some of the loan boys.

The 18-year-old youth prospect has established himself in the first team under our former England international midfielder and with seven senior substitute showings to his name so far, and having found the back of the net in the 4-0 victory over Dundee, it’s completely understandable as to why fans are hoping he gets a maiden full bow as you’d have to be incredibly harsh to say he hasn’t deserved it.

As you can see from above, the calls for the start do go back a bit.
