It has been claimed that US youth international Dantouma Toure has completed a trial at Rangers, training with the B team at Auchenhowie.

The highly rated Colorado Rapids attacker, aged just 17, has been courted by several top European clubs, having already made his senior debut for the MLS franchise.

As reported by Football Scotland – New jersey based football journalist Brian Sciaretta had briefed on the progress of the young player.

Despite no relation, the Guinea born teenager was given the ‘Yaya’ nckname in reference to the former Barcelona and Man City star of the same name.

The youngster staeted out at New York Red Bulls, prior to his move to Colorado in March, earlier this year. He then went on to make his debut in July against San Jose Earthquakes.

It could be that nothing comes of this trial, easpecially with the likes of Arsenal also getting involved with the player but to be casting the net far and wide for talent shows just how well prepared and evolved the scouting system at Auchenhowie is – this just would not have been possible three or four years ago.

In addition to the partner programme at Orange County in California, Rangers presence in the US should be exploited as uch as much to capture top talent – especially with the reputation that the club holds with reknowned former USMNT players like Claudio Reyna, Maurice Edu and Carlos Bocanegra.

Maybe, just maybe there will be further good news in regard to Toure.
