Aaron Ramsey’s agent has delivered a very firm response following claims made about the player’s move to Ibrox, by Alison McConnell for PLZ Soccer.

David Baldwin took to Twitter to slam the article which described the loan transfer from Juventus to Rangers as ‘a desperate last throw of the dice as the hours of the window ticked away’.

Despite a detailed explanation from the player’s camp as well as a breakdown of the move from Ibrox sporting director Ross Wilson being available in the public domain, McConnell still persisted with a very lazy analysis of the situation.

The issue here is not that the move is being scrutinised. With Ramsey’s injury record and lack of playing time over the last couple of seasons, there are questions that the Welshman needs to answer on the pitch in Scotland, absolutely.

As for Rangers transfer strategy, many fans wanted quality in last month’s window. Will the loan signings of Ramsey as well as Amad Diallo from Manchester United be enough? We will know for sure in three months time.

McConnell, who has a key role as a writer for The Celtic Way, will surely be aware that international moves involving players of Ramsey’s stature don’t just happen as an afterthought, with only hours of the transfer window remaining? Especially given all that has been disclosed since the switch was confirmed.

In the same article, above, the writer also stated that the move alludes to a lack of a defined strategy with no sign of a business model sustained by a conveyor belt of talent. Yet, this came just a few sentences later, describing Ramsey’s first start an Annan – the very same game that saw Rangers latest precocious hope Alex Lowry make another significant impact, as well as impressive cameos for Leon King and Charlie McCann.
