Ready, set, go! The SPFL transfer window is open now as of Friday 10th June.

So what does this mean for Rangers, as well as the other clubs?

Quite simply, transfer deals that have been arranged up to now or those that will follow can be completed with all registration details concluded with the Scottish FA.

In the case of John Souttar, he will be the latest Rangers to be eligible for the new season following his recent signing at Ibrox, with a few others set to follow over the coming months.

That will be contrasted with those leaving the club as clubs over the UK and Europe will be getting down to business prior to the start of the pre-season campaign. Later on from now, the Summer ‘window’ for transfers will close as of Thursday 1st September.

For Rangers, training starts on Monday 27th June with the international representatives likely to get a few more days leave, ahead of the training camp in Portugal. It will be essential to get as much preparation as business done asap, to allow the squad the greatest possible chance of success for the Champions League qualifiers in early August.

That has to be the aim for all at the club with just two qualifying rounds standing in the way of Rangers and a ticket to the prestige and riches of European football’s top table. There can be no repeat of the regrets last year at the hands of Malmo, despite suspensions and Covid not helping things last time around.

The objective is very clear.
