Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed the recent speculation that suggested the South Coast side are willing to strike a deal with Rangers to ease through midfielder Steven Davis’ return to Ibrox.

Rangers fans know exactly what the Northern Ireland international brought to the table during his spell at the club, and he’s held in a similar high regard for his efforts over the last six and a half years down on the South Coast.

With a number of the Southampton fanbase believing that there’s plenty of football left in the 34-year-old yet, we should have no worries about his fitness now he’s overcome his injury problems and remained fit and he’d quickly re-establish himself as a leader on the pitch for manager Steven Gerrard as we go in search of glory this year.

Amidst all the speculation, there are now solid quotes as Hasenhuttl told Sky Sports.

“The fact is he has a half-year contract here until the summer so what we want to give him is the chance to make the next step, if it is a possibility we will help him to do so. He has done a lot for this club so hopefully we can find a win-win solution for both sides.”

Down to wages now and a deal and confirmation should be imminent.
