As part of a new three week restriction to commence on 26th December, Scottish football is to be limited to crowds of a maximum of 500 spectators.

This means that supporters will effectively be prohibited from attending SPFL Premiership games, until after the planned Winter break, as things stand.

It has also been revealed that Sky Sports hasve been approached to allow the break to be brought forward by one week, presumably to allow for an earlier return for top flight football and the fans but it must be questioned as to what difference one week will make to Covid and Omicron situation.

On that update above, from Stephen McGowan of the Scottish Daily Mail it makes you wonder about the overall situation and how such arbitrary decisions can be made as it just does not add up.

The full details have been confirmed by Nicola Sturgeon, with restrictions imposed once again on licensed hospitality as well.

The news is a bitter blow to football supporters across the country, ahead of one of the busiest times of the seasons with several massive games now set to be played against a backdrop of no fans.

Whether or not clubs take up the 500 allowance, remains to be seen but would seem unlikely for the bigger clubs for various reasons.
