The situation of Andreas Skov Olsen at Bologna appears to be coming to a conclusion after he was slated by his manager.

The Danish international was effectively thrown under the bus by Sinisa Mihajlovic who claimed that he has lost the will and desire to play for I Rossublu.

Skov Olsen was left out of the squad entirely, for the 2-1 loss away to Verona on Friday and the coach didn’t miss him with his post-match comments:

“Let’s say they weren’t ready…”

“They are two players who no longer enjoy being here and I can’t keep players here who pull out in our time of need.”

The other player reference was Mitchell Dijks.

It appears clear that the player wants a move and the manager doesn’t want players who aren’t committed. In football, these situations happen and they need to be resolved.

In fairness to the Italian club, all the soundings that have came from Italian media sources have suggested that they are willing to do a deal which is where Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson needs to make his mark. Club Brugge are also said to be in contention and with considerable financial capability, they are not to be underestimated.

This is a move that is likely and VR believes that Skov Olsen will depart northern Italy in the coming days.

However, the comments of Mihajlovic make clear that the player is unwanted and that will impact the final fee of the Dane – something that will not go unnoticed by interested clubs.

In this final week of the transfer window, what Rangers need is quality and Skov Olsen can provide that. His spell in Serie A has been relatively disappointing but there are too many factors on his side for the player to be written off.

A fine emergence in the Danish top tier as well as a breakthrough into the national squad reflects his qualities. He can provide the goals and assists from the right flank to make a real contribution to Rangers title retention bid.
