Rangers have been given a boost if they are to follow up their early season interest in a potential target after an update from the player’s club.

Siriki Dembele has impressed for Peterborough United this season after helping his side gain promotion to the Championship, however, Posh director of football, Barry Fry, has revealed that his future lies elsewhere with the 24-year old forward entering the last twelve months of his contract, as told to This is Futbol:

He’s got a year left on his contract and we’ve made him what we consider to be a lucrative offer but there has been a lot of interest in him, andI don’t think he’ll sign a new contract with us.

The club’s policy is if you’re in the last year of your contract, and the club offerscontract and yourefuse it, we put you on the transfer list. We’ve had bids worth millions for Dembele and rejected them.”

Dembele’s brother, Karamoko, is in a similar position at Celtic with his contract also into it’s last year, a possible re-union has been rumoured but without a manager, and without any trophies, should Rangers come calling it could be a very short conversation.

He has score 12 goals and provided 11 assists in League 1 this season and is eligible to play for Scotland so could be beneficial when it comes to Champions League squad selection, our scouts have watched a lot of games at the Weston Homes Stadium but whether or not it is Dembele or his team-mate Jonson Clarke-Harris we have been keeping an eye on, we’ll have to wait and see.
