There hasn’t been anything come out of Ibrox on the deal, however, Get French Football News’s Ligue 1 expert, Adam White, claims that the move might not be as far fetched as many would believe, as told to GiveMeSport:
“Would he go to Rangers? In theory, I think that I could see that happening and I could see him wanting to go.
“But I think it’s one of those things that’s perhaps still in the very early stages if it is happening at all.”
It’s like the scene in Dumb and Dumber when Jim Carrey gets told that the odds of him ever getting to be with his love interest are “a million to one” to which he replies “so you’re telling me there’s a chance?”.
It’s one of those bizarre rumours that are so far fetched they might actually be true, there is also the fact that they originated from Spain and France, not Scotland. If Simons’s agent – the world renowned Mino Raiola – was trying to get his client a better deal, he wouldn’t be dropping our name into the mix either, he’d used Premier League teams or ones from the top five leagues.
With less than two weeks of the window left, Ross Wilson really needs to get players in to give us the best possible chance of retaining the title, Simons is a fascinating target but he would be for the long-term, we need additions in now.
