Rangers chances of signing PSG’s Xavi Simons would appear, from the outside, to be pretty slim, he is, after all, one of the highest rated teenagers in European football at the moment.

Given the Dutch connection and almost guaranteed playing time we could offer the youth international we might yet have a chance, regardless of how slim it might be and, speaking to GiveMeSport, Adam White of the well respected Get French Football News site reckons that Simons desire to see more time on the pitch could well keep us in the hunt:

“I think there’s definitely a willingness, in theory, from players like Simons to go out on loan or just to play.

“He was great for PSG when he played in the cup recently in midfield. He looked really good in those games.

“I think he’s still very young, of course, but any side like Rangers that is able to get hold of him will be getting a talented player.”

The only issue is that there will be a lot of teams higher up the food chain – with deeper pockets – that can offer him more regular games, it’s no coincidence that PSG have been playing him recently too in the hope that he will change his mind and I’d still be surprised if that isn’t the decision he will make.

From which country does Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist come from?

At 18-years old, he shouldn’t be in any rush to move on, however, Mino Raiola is his agent and we are all aware of some of the deals he has brokered in the past, deals that are far too expensive for our taste.
