The wait is over, Nicolas Raskin has finally been unveiled as a Rangers player with the club providing confirmation just after 5pm.

A long saga is brought to a close, with only the formality of a work permit to be put in place before the Belgian U21 international can join his teammates and begin his adventure as a key figure for Rangers Football Club.

Often, transfers are described as exciting in terms of what the player could possibly bring but when was the last time there was such a clear need for a particular player in an effective problem area of the pitch? Raskin should slot into the Rangers engine room and make a massive impact as long as he can display his full ability in a Blue shirt.

Whilst he won’t be expected to be at his best immediately, there will be a sense of expectation around the arrival of this much sought after player who can be a big asset for the club in term of the here and now as well as looking to develop and sell-on for a significant profit much later, down the line.

The 21-year old said of his arrival in Glasgow:

“I feel very excited to be here and I also feel very proud to join a very big club. I’m looking forward to playing at Ibrox. It was very exciting when I was told of Rangers’ interest because it’s a big club.”

“I’m looking forward to making my debut and I hope it can be as soon as possible.”

This was a very important deal to get over the line and now it is in the bag, all at the club and the supporters can be happy and look forward to what comes next from Nicolas Raskin.
