Rangers sent out a statement to the rest of the Scottish Premiership on Sunday with a stunning 7-1 win at home to Motherwell.

Just days after a disappointingly unproductive trip to Moscow in UEFA Europa League action, Steven Gerrard got his team selection spot on for the match against the Steelmen and the players didn’t disappoint with a superb rout.

The away side may have gone down to ten men in the first half, but Rangers still had to keep the heat on and couldn’t stop scoring in the second 45 minutes.

After Celtic dropped points at lunchtime, the Gers have now moved to within two points of the league leaders.

One of the day’s top performers was teenager  Glenn Middleton, who followed up his goal against Spartak Moscow with another today as well as generally terrifying the Motherwell defence with excellent delivery.

Middleton has had to remain patient this season for starting opportunities, with the Motherwell match being his first in league action after starts in Europe and the League Cup.

Has he done enough to convince Gerrard to start him more often?

Fans are desperate to see him in more matches, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on his star display…
