The Scottish Sun has reported that Alfredo Morelos is one of several names on Serie A side Lazio’s shopping list to provide additional firepower to support Ciro Immobile after seeing their title challenge disintegrate since the resumption of football in Italy.

Morelos has been the subject of interest all summer with a bid allegedly knocked back from Qatari side Al Duhail and Everton also rumoured to be monitoring the Colombian international’s situation.

The two other players said to be on Lazio’s radar are Luis Suarez of Watford and Alexander Sorloth of Crystal Palace, both of whom have enjoyed excellent loan spells in Spain and Turkey respectively this season.

The Sun claims that the £20million asking price wouldn’t be an issue for the Italian giants and it is their Sporting Director, Igli Tare, that has been impressed with the way that Morelos has performed this season, particularly in the Europa League.

With 14 goals before Christmas, El Bufalo set a new UEFA competition record and in the process alerted several top clubs to his ability, he now lies just four goals behind Gers legend Ally McCoist in the club’s all-time European goalscorer chart.

If Steven Gerrard does decide to cash-in on Morelos to provide additional funds for his squad, he will want to have replacements secured to a forward line that is already short with just Jermain Defoe as the other recognised striker – an issue that ultimately cost them in the 2019/20 championship race before it was aborted prematurely.

The Scottish FA confirmed that the transfer window is now open until October 5 so Gers fans face a long and anxious wait to see if the talismanic Colombian will be the man charged with leading the line in the Light Blues efforts to wrestle the league title from their city rivals’ dominant grasp.
