Hearts manager Craig Levein has admitted that Rangers transfer target Kyle Lafferty has had his ‘head turned’ regarding a move to Ibrox this summer.

The Ibrox side tabled a bid of £200,000 last week, notifying their interest in that they want the forward to return to Ibrox six years after he departed for Swiss side Sion.

It’s a strategy that has been criticised by Rangers outsiders, with Scottish football fans and pundits taking issue with the way the club is doing business.

Nonetheless, it’s a strategy that appears to be working, with Levein admitting the bid has unsettled his star striker.

As quoted by the BBC, the former Scotland manager said: “We just get on with things. We had an offer from Rangers, which is not what we are looking for, and we just get on with it. We’ve spoken to Kyle and his head has been turned a little bit. But, to his credit, he has been very professional and I was pleased with his performance when he went on.”

Lafferty scored 19 goals in all competitions for the Tynecastle side last term, proving he is still capable of excelling at Scottish Premiership level despite now being 30.

As a squad option in support of Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq, there are many better this summer, especially for a fee of under £1m.

With the club expected to make another offer this week, his arrival in Glasgow appears to be inevitable.
