Ryan Kent has, arguably, been Rangers on form player so far this season and he has attracted praise from many within the media.

One such admirer is former Light Blues right-back, Alan Hutton, who has been delighted with the start that the 23-year old has made, as revealed in an interview with Football Insider.

So what has Hutton said?

When asked about Kent’s role in driving Rangers to the top of the league, he said:

“He’s been absolutely fantastic. I think this is the best form we’ve seen him in. He looks as sharp as a tack.

“He looks on fire. He’s facing players up, he’s coming inside, he’s taking them down the line. He’s getting shots off, creating chances.

“What’s even better about it is, you listen to his press conference and he’s not happy – he wants to create more chances, he wants to have more shots.

“It just shows you how hungry it is. It’s really good. A lot of the Rangers fans are really excited about him this year.”

So is Hutton correct?

Even during a poor season when he was injured, Kent still managed to get a goal every three games in the league with a better goals per minute ratio than the much heralded James Forrest, not that the Scottish media would tell you though, and now, with a full pre-season, we are finally seeing the return of the player that is worth every penny of the £7.5million transfer fee.

With three goals and two assists in his first six league games, Kent is adding the numbers that a forward playing for Rangers should be getting, not only that but he has been a constant menace to opposition defences in almost every game.

Is Ryan Kent Rangers most valuable player?

Yes

Yes

No

Hutton is right, the former Liverpool winger is his own biggest critic and is determined to bring success back to the club, if he continues his current form, few would bet against it.
