The curious case of Nikola Katic continues to rumble on at Rangers.

The 22-year-old summer signing pretty much hit the ground running at Ibrox following his arrival from Slaven Belupo and he went on to rack up 19 appearances, with a return of two goals in the opening months of the season.

He last featured for manager Steven Gerrard back in the 7-1 Premiership victory over Motherwell on November 11 and he’s not really been seen since, although he has remained involved, with the most common theme amongst the speculation being simply that the lad grew homesick – the club themselves put little stock in that it seems.

But nevertheless, he remains missing until this day and given the perceived poorer performances of on-loan Nottingham Forest youngster Joe Worrall, it’s understandable as to why he remains near the forefront of people’s minds.

On Monday, he found himself in the reserves having been completely dropped from the first team squad and Gerrard talked it up as ‘game time’ as he continues his development.

Some rumours may well be addressed when the January transfer window opens, so we’ll just have to wait until then.
