Whilst the main headline that stemmed from our win over Hamilton was our ascent to the top of the Scottish top flight, that wasn’t the only major takeaway from the tie.

Indeed, one thing that has perhaps gone under the radar somewhat is Steven Gerrard’s decision to include young Stuart Dallas in the squad for the game. It was an exciting decision from the boss, as it highlights his desire to help get some of the members of the Rangers academy involved in the first team at Ibrox – and that’s exactly what we want to see.

Dallas has enjoyed a prolific campaign so far with the Rangers reserves, and Gerrard has clearly been as impressed as we all have. Now, as per the official Rangers website, Dallas has spoken out following the tie.

He said: “It was a great experience getting on the bench”.

Dallas continued: “You just have to take these experiences because money can’t buy that. So I’ve been working hard and it’s good to see the coaches and obviously, the gaffer have trusted me enough to put me on the bench”.

Clearly, Dallas is pleased to be getting more involved with the first team, and though he wasn’t able to get on the pitch, it’s still an important step for him as he looks to make the jump.

Rangers are lacking a bit of goalscoring potency at present, and so there is definitely a chance for Dallas to force his way into the team. He’ll have to take any and all opportunities with both hands, though, but we’re sure that he’ll do exactly that.
