It’s pretty safe to say that Antonio Colak has hit the ground running in his Rangers career, seven goals in his last seven games is a testament to that but we would be in trouble were he to get injured.

There is a future for Alfredo Morelos, however,  he’s currently a shadow of the player that tormented Borussia Dortmund and he has some way to go before he can be fully forgiven.

Then there is forgotten man Kemar Roofe who, as we enter September, has yet to kick a ball this season.

Taking to Instagram though, the Jamaica international hinted that a return might not be far away.

“Out of sight, out of mind, but more of these will be coming soon…”

We’re at the stage with Roofe that there are no expectations for him to start games and be a key player but his goals record since signing for Rangers speaks for itself and there is a place for him in the squad.

The one role where he could fit in, especially in the Scottish Premiership, is on the right-hand side of the attack. We’ve seen how well Tom Lawrence has played that role but he has looked more dangerous alongside Malik Tillman and John Lundstram in midfield.

Against teams that sit in, having an extra – and more natural – goalscorer can only be a good thing, and one with Roofe’s movement and ability would create even more problems for opposition teams, he would also add a great balance to Ryan Kent who does his best work from outside the box.

Whether or not he will return to play a key role isn’t really a debate, just having a quality backup striker to support Colak and Morelos will do me and Roofe, as he is quick to remind us, is certainly that.
