Not only have Rangers lost a manager, the entire first team set-up has been obliterated.

Steven Gerrard, Michael Beale, Gary McAllister, Tom Culshaw, Jordan Milsom – all gone. As reported elsewhere, it is expected the club doctor Mark Waller and anlyst Scott Mason will also move on to Villa with the collective. That is a serious dent to the entire first team operation.

VitalRangers understands that a total fee of approximately £4.5 million has been paid by Aston Villa for the services of the management team – as backed up by Mark Dingwall of Follow Follow – an official media partner of Rangers:

Back in 2018, Gerrard inherited a shell of a squad and a club. That meant he largely had to construct a full support staff, including his coaches.

Since then, with Ross Wilson as sporting director, big strides have been made with Rangers much more of a modern club, on and off the pitch. This upheaval with Gerrard’s departure cannot be repeated and is not healthy for the club but it is very much a reflection of the past few years.

Several positions will now need to be filled but that will come in the very near future with Rangers keen to speak to a list of candidates for the main role, as well as the support staff.

Supporters will want decisive action with only 10 days until the Gers take to the pitch at Hampden against Hibs and it is believed that the club wish to make an appointment as soon as possible.
