According to Turkish outlet Fanatik – via Sport Witness – Trabzonspor are leading the way in the race to sign free agent Daniel Sturridge, though the report refers to Rangers as being interested.
In terms of strikers we’ve got Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos and they are both very good options for sure.
In that sense, then, we don’t desperately need Sturridge though it would, of course, be a real statement to the rest of the league if we got him.
However, you would imagine that his wage demands would prove difficult for us to meet and it seems as though it’s the Turkish side that has a better chance of getting him in this summer judging by this report.
It would be nice to see him in our famous jersey but, in fairness, it would make little sense in breaking the bank for him this summer.
Striker-wise I think we’re okay this summer.
