The transfer rumours around Rangers are already coming thick and fast and it looks set to be a rather hectic summer for the boys in blue.

The Gers are expected to make some moves this window before looking to take Celtic down next season and Steven Gerrard will have several players in mind.

Indeed, it was reported by Keith Downie yesterday that we were looking at free agent Stewart Downing but, thankfully, the Gers have seen such a report kicked into touch.

According to the Sun, the club is not interested in the winger this summer and it looks as though Downie’s report might be a little wide of the mark.

Of course, the Sun could be wrong, too, but I’d like to think that the Gers are actually going to swerve him because he’s getting on in years and is far from quick anymore – he’s just not the sort of player we need now.
