Former Rangers star and Albania coach, Sergio Porrini, believes that Florian Kamberi will do enough in his loan spell to earn a permanent move to Ibrox in an interview with The Sunday Post.

Kamberi courted controversy when he made the short trip across the country along the M8 by expressing his delight at joining such a big club claiming it was a “dream move” and one he had always wanted to make since he arrived in Scotland.

Porrini, who is Kamberi’s coach at international level, has backed the player to make the impact that would ensure he wouldn’t have to face the potentially frosty reception waiting for him should he return to Easter Road:

“He is a serious professional and in football, as in all areas of life, it is normal to have ambitions and dreams.”

“He wants to improve himself as a player and Rangers can help him do that.”

“They are one of the most-famous clubs in the world and as such are able to afford to bring in players of a higher level.”

“The reason they will have recruited Florian is because they must have seen something in him which makes them believe he can elevate himself to that standard.”

“But if things don’t go well for him there, and he has to go back to Hibs at the end of the loan, then I am sure he would give everything for the shirt.”

“My own view is that he will do well enough to earn himself the chance to stay on at Rangers, because he has a lot of talent.”

Rangers have yet to really see what Kamberi has to offer in a Light Blue shirt having been unable to play against his parent club in the league and being cup tied for the trip to Hamilton. Now that Alfredo Morelos is fit and back on the goal trail he may have to wait for his first start but with five games in a fourteen day period he should get the chance to make his long awaited impact to give the Colombian international a breather.

Will Kamberi be a hit at Ibrox?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Jermain Defoe scored three goals in four games plus one assist in Morelos’ absence and these are the numbers that Kamberi should be aspiring to if he wants to stay at Ibrox beyond the summer – the hostility towards him in the capital could just be the motivation he needs to succeed.
