Rangers winger, Jamie Murphy has put pen to paper on a six-month loan deal which sees him spend the second-half of the season at Burton Albion, joining his former Sheffield United manager, Nigel Clough, in League 1 as reported on the BBC Sport website.
Murphy has been a peripheral figure at Ibrox this season following his recuperation from anterior cruciate ligament surgery in August 2018, an injury sustained on Kilmarnock’s infamous artificial pitch.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion forward was linked with a summer move to get some much needed game time but nothing came to fruition, a move which backfired as Steven Gerrard doesn’t have the luxury of being able to nurse players back to full health given the weekly pressure to win every game.
Should Jamie Murphy have had more game time for Rangers this season?
Yes
No
There is still time for Murphy, with 18-months left on his Rangers contract and fans are happy to see the 30-year-old go out on loan so that he can return fully fit and rediscover the form that saw him score 6 goals and create 13 assists in his first 27 appearances for the Light Blues, however, some fans feel he is still a better option than others who have been getting game time recently.
Stupidity when we are giving Barker actual game time.

Think we should have kept him cos he’s better than Barker and Ojo. Hopefully we’ll go out and get another winger in

After what happened to JM giving his all for the club and getting such a devastating injury I would rather see him on the bench than Ojo.

Gers fans know that Murphy is “one of their own” and are gutted it hasn’t worked out for him – so far – a good loan spell and he may just come back into first-team reckoning and save the club having to dip into the transfer market once again.
