Few journalists nowadays are “in the know” when it comes to Rangers, our media policy leading to most stories coming out of the club being confirmed or denied by fan media instead of the usual sources.

When you see the BBC insisting on claiming that Nathan Patterson was being sold for £10million despite every other outlet reporting it as £12m plus £4m in add ons is it any wonder?

Chris Jack though, author of “Going for 55” and the senior Rangers writer for The Herald and Glasgow Times can be trusted to cover news relating to the club accurately and a recent social media post could reveal our next transfer moves.

James Sands looks to be on his way but the journalist also reckons that we could be looking at a bringing outside cover for James Tavernier and someone for the troublesome right-wing position, as told in response to a question on Twitter about any other business we might be making.

“A replacement for Patterson and a right sided forward I would think.”

Now, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that these are the areas where we either don’t have a specialist player or someone who has really nailed down the role – Ianis Hagi and Scott Wright have done ok on the right-hand flank but both need greater consistency in their end product to match their work rate and commitment.

In defence, the options are Leon Balogun, Leon King and Adam Devine for right-back cover, all good players but you would understand Gio’s thinking should he go for someone ready for the job now who wouldn’t be playing out of position.

It’s going to be an interesting window, personally I’d be surprised if we don’t address the centre-half issue but agree with Jack in that right wing could be a key transfer, we’ve been linked with enough of them, let’s see if any of them come off.
