Rangers will have a mini rebuild in the summer, however, much of it will be determined by whether or not we are able to make space in the current squad.

Players like Scott Wright, Fashion Sakala and Rabbi Matondo might not have been at the club for long, but there remain question marks about their futures and ability to take us to the next level.

Speaking to Football Insider, Alan Hutton doesn’t believe that Rangers will be shopping local and targeting on-form Aberdeen forward Luis Lopes or Duk, as he is known by, with interest said to be growing for the 23-year old:

“I would be surprised.

“I think he has had a good season. He is one of those players that I think Rangers have got options like him or probably slightly better or more consistent than him.

“I think if you are going to bring somebody in it really has to be to push these guys on and be better than those.

“I think it would be an interesting one, he has had a good season. But I do not really see him moving to Rangers.“

Hutton is right, Duk has enjoyed a successful season but, he has only just signed for Aberdeen in the summer and there is no way that they will let us have him at a reasonable price.

Frustratingly, Duk has looked like a decent player – 13 goals and six assists – and has caused a few problems at times this season but, the time to sign him would have been when he was available on a free from Benfica, that’s the sort of gamble we should be taking.
