If all goes to plan, Rangers could see a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a winger/secondary striker join up in the coming days, we’ll ignore the obvious need for a goalkeeper but there is one more position where we need to strengthen.

The forward department, on paper, is strong, Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak will provide a lot of goals over the course of a season if they are fit and available, however, that has been half the problem this season with both Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale having to pick his striker based on who he has in his squad and in best shape physically rather than form.

Morelos was at his his best against Kilmarnock but we all know that he might not be here next season, then there is Roofe’s ongoing issues with injury, if it’s not one thing it’s another.

There have been a few names mentioned this month and Cho Gue-Sung has been the most exotic aside from the usual domestic faces like Lawrence Shankland, Kevin Nisbet and Lyndon Dykes – not the most inspiring list.

Cho has also been linked with Celtic and their interest could depend on the imminent departure of Georgios Giakoumakis, Rangers need is altogether different in that we would be preparing for the future without the need to sell first.

A fee in the region of £3million has been mentioned in the past with well respected journalist and transfer specialist Alan Nixon claiming that we are still interest, if the price is right, when responding to a fan on Twitter.

When asked, “what happened to Rangers interest” with regards to Cho, he said:

“Same as every club after him … trying to find the price that works …”

This, for me, is the deal least likely to happen. We don’t have an urgent need for a central striker and there is still a chance that Morelos might sign a new contract, the player that we saw on Wednesday night is still a formidable force and that version of El Bufalo is a welcome sight in a Rangers shirt, Cho would have a lot to live up to if he has to fill it.
