January double signing Gers have to make

Sometimes, getting the three points isn’t all that matters.

The display against Aberdeen was as bad as anything we have seen since returning to the top flight but, thankfully, we managed to return to Glasgow with all three points, despite deserving very little.

In terms of xG and every other statistic, and on paper, it looks like a dominant display, however, we didn’t control the tempo, the ball or look like we really knew what we were doing. Moments of magic from Malik Tillman and Ryan Kent created the opportunities to get us over the line – Scott Arfield doing the rest.

What it has highlighted is exactly where we need to strengthen in the coming transfer window.

The good news is, we can do it relatively cheaply,

Allan McGregor’s form hasn’t been great all season, if anything it is getting worse and a new keeper has been a priority since we won the league in 2021, then there is the lack of control in midfield so, who should we target?

Nakita Haikin

Bodo/Glimt’s number one is set to leave Norway in just over a week’s time and being able to bring him in now gives him time to settle over the rest of the campaign before taking over full-time next season, he wouldn’t have to be rushed into the starting line-up straight away, even if that would be my personal preference.

Nikolas Raskin

An absolute must. Ross Wilson spoke at the AGM about not always being able to secure targets but Raskin’s profile and contract situation means that we should push the boat out for the Belgian Under-21 international.

Two transfers, both available now, both affordable. What are you waiting for Mr Wilson?

You make good points re these players and both would enhance the team. However, the statement ‘ the display was as bad as anything we’ve seen since return to top flight’ is frankly ridiculous and unless you been to every single game since these dark days one you can not make. Even if you have and that’s your opinion then I’m my opinion it’s flawed. It certainly was poor for long portions of the game but no need to go overboard!
