Rangers are said to be making a return to Ianis Hagi’s old club Genk in an attempt to bolster their midfield options, with The Scottish Sun reporting that Patrik Hrosovsky is a target.

The rumours originate from the Czech Republic and news outlet iSport.cz with the Slovakian international deemed surplus to requirements for the Belgian side.

According to the article, Ross Wilson is looking to secure a similar deal to the one that saw Hagi sign initially on loan with an agreement to buy, however, Genk have a valuation of £3.5million (£3.6m on transfermarkt) despite the 28-year old not yet featuring this season.

He remains part of Slovakia’s Nations League plans though and is currently on international duty hoping to add to his 25 caps so he clearly is a player with a decent pedigree despite falling out of favour with the Jupiler Pro League side.

It is one area that Steven Gerrard is expected to add to over the next few weeks with a lack of variety in his current midfield options, other than the more attack minded Joe Aribo, he revealed after the win over Hamilton that he expects some transfer business to be completed during the international break and Hrosovsky could potentially be next through the door.

Rangers fans are already seeing the benefits of having more quality across the squad with the importance of Alfredo Morelos diminishing on a weekly basis to the extent that his departure would almost be welcomed so that funds can be freed up for the gaffer to finalise the finishing touches to his squad as early as possible.
