Sometimes you’ll see fans on social media comment on Rangers getting penalties and crying “conspiracy” without actually seeing the incident, however, when you see pundits judging a performance and making a wild statement, it’s easy to identify when they haven’t watched the game.

Talksport – formerly a respectable radio station – has gradually been drifting towards tabloid and clickbait nonsense for some time and, after Rangers 2-1 win over St Mirren, former Crystal Palace chairman, Simon Jordan, did little to help this reputation as he slammed Steven Gerrard’s side for their display, as reported by The Glasgow Times:

“How St Mirren managed to lose that game is beyond me, and how poor Rangers were.

“With respect, I like Rangers, I was very, very grateful for their hospitality when we went up there, big admirer of Steven Gerrard, I think he’ll be a top manager. That was poor.”

St Mirren scored with a 30-yard wonder-strike and, other than that, did very little else to trouble Jon McLaughlin, Rangers looking a constant threat after kicking into gear mid-way through the first-half.

It’s clear that Jordan didn’t see the game, we were deserved winners and should have won by more, yes, the first 20 minutes were poor but that was hardly a reflection of the whole 90 minutes.

Controversy sells more than accuracy nowadays unfortunately, we only need to look at Chris Sutton’s media profile to see that, and criticism is fine when it is deserved but when comments like this are made it only reflects on the individuals and their reputation – it’s easy to see how St Mirren lost that game, they had four attempts on goal to Rangers 19, the scary thing is, these guys get paid to give their opinions on the game.
