What Rangers fans probably don’t have the energy for at this moment in time is more upheaval in the board room after a period of relative stability, that stability being linked with Dave King taking a back seat role, however, the former chairman and leader of the 2015 takeover, has been back with a bang in recent weeks.

Takeover talks first emerged when it was revealed that Rangers are suing an American business woman over the use of our crest to, seemingly, attempt to raise funds to buy a controlling interest in the club with The Herald Scotland claiming that this is a plan that remains very much alive:

“Former Rangers chairman Paul Murray has said that shareholders remain interested in a controversial bid to part-own the club by a firm fronted by an American businesswoman despite being sued over allegations surrounding the purchase.

“Kyle Fox has been assisted by Mr Murray and Adrian Bevington, a former senior executive with the English Football Association in an initial takeover bid to buy 75% of the club shares.”

You would think that if an individual wanted to have a foothold in Rangers the easiest thing to do would be to buy King’s shares who has attempted in the past to offload them to Club 1872, an organisation that is far from harmonious or with universal support from the fanbase, it’s safe to say that the South African based businessman is far from happy with what he is currently seeing though, as reported by The Daily Record:

“I have been closely following the club’s activities on and off the pitch and as a supporter (and still largest shareholder) I have become increasingly alarmed about what I am witnessing. Being a director of Rangers is a privilege that comes with an individual and collective responsibility that appears to have been absent from decision making for some time now.”

Rangers will be an attractive proposition just now given our recent return to European prominence but there are enough “Rangers minded” members on the board for us not to be worried, I get the feeling though, that with King and Paul Murray being involved, that this story is not going to go away any time soon.
