Every Rangers fan, and fans from other clubs for that matter, are fully aware of what a fit and firing on all cylinders Alfredo Morelos is capable of and what he could bring to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s misfiring side.

What we have seen from Antonio Colak is a player who will be perfect for certain games but, as we saw against Celtic and Ajax, if we are up against it, he is far from the ideal candidate to lead the line – this isn’t a slight on his ability, more about picking the right player for the job.

El Bufalo posted a video of himself training this week and, yes, we’ve seen these before in the lead-up to being dropped from the squad, but he clearly looks in better shape and as lean as he has been since we first signed him, maybe, just maybe, the penny has finally dropped.

It’s the one aspect of Morelos’s play that I always felt stopped the top clubs from coming in for him – his athleticism.

Being formidably strong isn’t enough on its own if you don’t have the pace to get away from defenders or to get on the end of a through ball in the 90th minute, he can still bully defenders even if he loses a pound or two but he needs to be fitter and needs to be sharper over a longer distance.

He needs to realise that, throughout his career, he will have to work harder than most of his team-mates because he isn’t a natural athlete, however, with an already impressive goal-scoring record for the club, Morelos 2.0 could well be about to turn things up a notch or two and the timing couldn’t be better.

It’s Morelos, and I think you’ll find that he was a key player when Gio arrived until his injury in March.
