Rangers recruitment seems to be heading in the right direction after a slow start with Todd Cantwell, Nicolas Raskin and Morgan Whittaker all likely to be added to Michael Beale’s squad.

A goalkeeper would be nice but we’ve already been told that we won’t be seeing one until the summer, however, one position where we could do with strengthening is up front.

The 1-0 win over St Johnstone demonstrated perfectly why we need to add another striker, Alfredo Morelos was having one of those days, and yet, remained on the park for nearly the full 90 minutes – ideally, we should be able to replace him either before or during a game if he isn’t on form.

Antonio Colak being back fit will make a difference and, after the win over St Johnstone, Beale hinted that he might not be lined up to rotate with Morelos, as reported by The Rangers Review:

“Antonio was on the bench today if we needed a penalty or needed five minutes.

“If I can get Antonio fit and playing with Alfredo I think it will add a different dimension. Scott Wright came on tonight and I thought he was excellent. Ryan Kent and Fashion are giving me every single ounce of energy they’ve got.”

The Gers boss spoke early in his tenure about getting as many goal scorers as possible in the team and having two out and out strikers would certainly help. Fashion Sakala is one who has benefitted from this and is probably in the position that Morelos would drop into if Colak is restored to the starting line-up.

Creating chances hasn’t been an issue recently and for all that Morelos and Sakala cause teams problems, they can be guilty of snatching at good goalscoring opportunities rather than showing the sort of composure that Kemar Roofee or Colak would.

Not only do we need to sign another striker to add depth to the attack but, if Beale is to get his two strikers together more often, he needs someone who can stay fit and add numbers.
