I’ve written recently about how Rangers need to pay attention to their recruitment in midfield for next season seeing as Steven Davis is the wrong side of 35 and won’t be around forever – scrap that – he’s the best player in the country and has years left to go, if his performance against Kilmarnock is anything to go by.

The Northern Ireland skipper might need a new pair of slippers the rate he is going at, playing 90 minutes every week is surely the quickest way to wear his out, I can’t condone running about with a pipe in his mouth though.

For me, it’s a one horse race for player of the year now, James Tavernier has’t maintained his ridiculous early season form, Connor Goldson has also had a few lapses recently and none of our forwards have shown enough consistency to make a realistic claim and it seems as though Rangers fans agree:

Steven Gerrard has routinely sung Davis’s praises since he returned to Ibrox and hopefully the Gers midfield maestro can let the gaffer finally get some sleep at night – by signing a new contract sooner, rather than later.
