Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is looking to play in English football one day, but not until after he’s achieved things with the Gers and manager Steven Gerrard, as reported  by The Scottish Sun.

The Colombian scored his 29th goal of the season on Saturday, rescuing a point for the Gers in the Scottish Premiership against Kilmarnock.

It’s just one of a number of points he’s delivered to the club so far this season, emerging as our most important player by far since Gerrard arrived at the club as manager.

Many have speculated he could be set to leave Rangers soon, but in a new interview he seems perfectly happy to continue banging in the goals at Ibrox.

However, he does want to move on to a more illustrious league one day.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the 22-year-old said of his future:

There are a lot of people watching me from other clubs, but now I have the Rangers in my head. Rangers and the national team – I am focused on them.

I’m only 22, maybe in five years who knows I might be with a much bigger team, hopefully in England because I am very ambitious.

But I am very happy to work with Steven Gerrard. Day to day training is excellent. To have such a prominent figure, both for club and country – you have to take advantage of it.

I have learned a lot from him and fortunately his feelings towards me have been positive and I am very happy with that. To get the call-up for my country was also very satisfying because I knew nothing about it. It’s made me very proud.

It’s pleasing to hear he is so happy developing under Gerrard and is in no rush to be heading off anywhere right now.

He’ll be absolutely crucial to the Gerrard project so all our fingers are crossed the club can find some way to keep him beyond this summer transfer window and cash in on him at a later date, despite all the speculation.

Morelos will now head off to Korea with his Colombian compatriots to take part in two friendlies against Japan and South Korea, returning to Scotland just in time to face Celtic at the end of the month.
